What are you celebrating this Mother's Day?

Happy soon-to-be Mother’s Day!
As we gear up for the big day, I want to share a little bit with you about my mom. If I had to pick one word to describe her it would be adventurous.
I was homeschooled, so my mom stayed home with us. She wanted us to have a joy for life, so she gave us all kinds of fun things to do and experience. I remember one day in particular. Brought on by cabin fever or just the desire to do something new, my mom found out there was an Amish community nearby with a store. So we went! Our family met some very nice people with a very different way of life, and I’ll never forget them.
Another thing my mom taught us was that as important as it is to live life and seek out unusual experiences, it’s equally important to serve others. My mom always made sure we had opportunities to help people and care for those outside ourselves. My hometown of Corpus Christi has a high homeless population, so every Friday in my teenage years we went with our church to feed them.
These kinds of experiences – fun adventures and acts of service – were commonplace in my childhood, and when my mom visits now, we still try to do these kinds of things together.
Who will you remember and/or celebrate on Mother’s Day?
This Sunday we’re going to lift up all moms, grandmoms, and special women in our lives. We’ll have a photo booth for you, and we’re also inviting you to participate in a Diaper and Baby Wipe Drive that we’ll be kicking off. Bring baby wipes to church with you and larger sized diapers – like size 5 or 6 – and we’ll donate them at the end of the month to the Pregnancy and Life Center here in Marble Falls. Finally, I’m excited to show you a VIDEO I’m making that will highlight some of YOU and the memories you have and things you love about your moms.
I look forward to this day when we will celebrate the great ways women have poured into us over the years. Thanks be to God for moms and moms-in-spirit!
