Ways to Serve

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” - Mark 10:45

Friends, we are super excited about the things going on at our church! Amidst Revival Project renovations (Phase 2 is officially underway … see important e-news info below), we have a big Sunday coming up and a couple different ways to live out our October sermon series, “Built to Serve.”
This Sunday we’re handing out 3rd Grade Bibles, an important tradition in our church. This milestone is a real opportunity for kids to begin to take ownership of their faith and grow in their discipleship. If you have a 3rd grader who would like to receive a Bible, please contact the office and let them know which service you attend so we can make sure we have enough. We look forward to making this a big deal on Sunday!
I’ll also be preaching this Sunday, and as we continue our sermon series on service, I’ll be talking about how we live out our life of holiness by serving God. When we serve others, we demonstrate a mark of discipleship … we lean into the holiness God has called us to.
So how about a couple different ways we can not just talk about service, but actually put it into action?
Last week I told you about Fall-o-ween. There are lots of ways you can help – decorate and host a trunk, donate candy, help us set up, etc. Here’s a sign-up to volunteer. New this week there’s also a chance to serve through Operation Christmas Child. Every year our church teams up with Samaritan’s Purse and distributes 100 empty shoeboxes to our congregation to fill and return. These shoeboxes then go to children around the world for Christmas. They will be available for pick-up THIS Sunday at church, and the deadline to return them filled is November 16.
It’s too big a job to help everyone in the world. We do have the opportunity to impact our community through Fall-o-ween, though, and we can change the world for at least one person through Operation Christmas Child. I hope you will join us in celebrating the work both our volunteers and the Holy Spirit are doing at our outpost of the Kingdom.
We know there are many things going on in your world, and we appreciate the opportunity to serve you.
