This Fall in Children's Ministry

Hello Friends!
I hope you’re excited that fall is here. Amidst some changes in our Children’s Ministry, I want to let you know some of our current plans, what our long-term vision is, and also – what really fun stuff we have coming up!
First and foremost, our vision for the Children’s ministry is to gather families and friends to share faith, hope, and love as described in the Holy Scriptures. We do this by teaching children the foundational doctrines of the Church and truths of the Bible. We believe parents play a pivotal role in their children’s spiritual development and have primary spiritual authority of their children, so we want to be a resource for parents. We want to offer tools and opportunities as they disciple their children because our goal is to help families be strong disciples of Christ.
To that end, I’m working alongside Becca Jeffcoat and our Children’s Council to make sure we keep our Children’s Ministry going strong as we search for a new Children’s Director. Our Wednesday night and Sunday morning programs are continuing, and if you have a desire to help out, please let us know. The more adult disciples our children get to know, the stronger their faith becomes.
As for our search for a new Children’s Director, we have finalized a job description for the position and will be posting it on our website, e-news, and social media, at some universities and seminaries, and sharing it through our Mid-Tex Conference and people we know. I invite YOU to spread the word too! If you know anyone who would be a good fit for our staff and FMC families, please don’t hesitate to send them my way.
And finally – the fun stuff! Fall-o-ween is Sunday, October 26, 4-6pm. There will be lots of trunks where children can get treats in our parking lot, along with a meal from our church’s Missions Team, popcorn, cotton candy, and visits from some of our community’s “helpers” (firefighters, police officers, and EMS). If you’d like to volunteer to host a trunk or help in other ways, visit this SignUp Genius link or let Becca know and she will be happy to give you a spot. Last year we had 28 trunks, and we hope to match or beat that this year! I hope you’ll join us on the journey as we reach out to our community this fall and encourage kids to follow Jesus. Volunteer, bring your friends, and introduce people to our church!
