The Good Life: Serving

Hey friends!
We’re in the season of Stewardship, which means we’re taking a look at our lives and how God calls us to be good stewards of all He’s given us. Our FMC membership vows of prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness are good reminders this time of year – they can guide our stewardship and help us live “The Good Life” God intends for each of us.
During Stewardship and really every time we talk about stewardship in general, the one element I always find myself coming back to is Service. To me, Service rolls together all the other elements into a neat package:
• We should pray before we serve …
• we should assess our gifts when deciding where to serve …
• our presence is required as we serve, …
• and service is a witness of all that God has done for us.
Service uniquely demonstrates each aspect of our Stewardship vows in a way very few other things can. It is also massively important to the life of the Church.
I talk all the time about our wonderful staff. They are indeed wonderful! But, our staff has limited time and resources like everyone does. That's why we need you, the Body of Christ, to serve alongside us.
One of the most exciting places for me right now when I think about service is our Sunday Tech Team. We need folks to run the Graphics PC, Soundboard, and Livestream. These positions on Sunday morning are often very low-key, behind-the-scenes positions, but that does not make them unimportant. Think of how many times we use those big screens in worship each week! Besides that, the greatest thing we can do for the Kingdom is get the Gospel into the hands of people who need it the most. Our Livestream, which broadcasts to people outside our church, is one of the ways we do this. You may know that our homebound folks and people who are out sick watch our Livestream since they can’t make it to worship. But did you know a lot of people watch our Livestream video after the fact? Somewhere around 200 people see our video each week as they are scrolling Facebook. Isn’t that a great way to share the Gospel?!
Pray about getting involved back there in the sound booth or talking to someone you know who may be interested. For the next few weeks, we have Chuy and the 4Stage crew around to help us learn - there aren’t many better teachers you could have! I hope you’ll come and check it out this Sunday after the 2nd service for our Graphics PC Training - I’ll be there, and I’d love to see you!
