The Good Life: Giving

The Good Life: Giving

For those of you who listen to the Seedbed “Wake-Up Call” each morning, you know that J.D. Walt has been talking about giving. (If you’ve not heard of the “Wake-Up Call” and want to check it out, ask one of your pastors, and we can get the link to you. It’s a great way to start your day!) Yesterday J.D. said, “You can’t out-give God!”. That’s a fact. Take a simple inventory of all you have and try to explain to yourself how you got it all, without the providence of God!

November is our annual Stewardship emphasis in our church family. Truly, every month we could celebrate the faithfulness of God and talk about the ways He calls us to return a portion of each blessing. But we intentionally set aside one month every year to be reminded of the ways in which we have been blessed. Specifically, we look at our finances and consider how we can give of them to build the church.

There are countless stories in Scripture about what it means to be financially faithful to God, the One who gave us every blessing we have. The fact is, Jesus speaks more about giving than about anything else! Have you stepped up and embraced the opportunity to give?

In the next week you will be receiving a letter about giving to the 2026 church budget, which gives you an opportunity to partner with us, and more importantly, with God in doing Kingdom work, right here in the Highland Lakes. What an opportunity! What a blessing! There are many ways you can give to the ministry of Jesus Christ right here:

  • Through our ministry budget. You can complete the commitment card you receive in the mail or go to our website and click on the giving link there. (You may even see it on a NEW website … it’s coming very soon!)
  • Giving to the Helping Fund, which is now being distributed by our volunteers at the Helping Center. (How great is our new monthly Noisy Offering, collected by our church’s children?! The money they collect in their buckets goes straight to the Helping Fund.)
  • Given the government shut-down and lack of SNAP funds for families in need, there is also a tremendous opportunity to boost the food supply at the Helping Center by donating canned food over the next few months.
  • Very soon the Community Resource Center will be soliciting heater donations for those who have inadequate heat in their homes in the coming winter months. Do you have one you can give?
  • The list goes on! In what ways can you support the ministries of God in our church and beyond?

I challenge you to be faithful - as God is and has been faithful to us. Thanks be to Him for the opportunity to participate in His goodness by giving.
