Our Crosses and Their Stories

On my first Sunday in Marble Falls in June of 2011, the then-chair of the Staff Parish Relations Committee presented our family with a beautiful cross. The cross was hung on an open spot on the wall in the Sanctuary, and that open spot was there because the Sunday before, another cross was taken off the wall and given to the Mann family upon their departure - Rev. Dr. Ralph Mann was my predecessor as Pastor of this church. It was a meaningful moment we have cherished since that day.
Through the years, each of the crosses on our Sanctuary walls has been gifted to the church by a member or friend of the congregation. The crosses have been cherished by each donor and by everyone sitting in the pews on Sunday mornings. As we prepare for The Revival Project renovations, the cross that was gifted to me and all the other beautiful ones hanging on our Sanctuary walls will find new homes throughout the building. They will continue to be cherished as we place them above all the doors in our church: classrooms, Fellowship Hall, our offices, Kid’s Corner, the gym, and more. Because each cross has a donor and a story, we want to continue keeping them in places of honor, sprinkled throughout the building.
We are excited about this change, but we recognize that some donors might not want their crosses moved to another location in the building. If you donated a cross to our Sanctuary and wish to make another decision for yours, we want to honor that. Be on the lookout next week for details on how to retrieve your cross when we take them down prior to construction.
Thank you for sharing with us!
Blessings,
Ellen
