Revival Through Community

How is it with your soul?
It’s a question we ask a lot around here and one we’ll be talking about this fall. On the surface, “How is it with your soul? is a very simple question. Answering it, though, can be intimidating.
We tend to conceal what’s really going on in the innermost parts of ourselves. Any hurt, anger, frustration, or sin we admit to seems like a weakness or failure on our part. The thing is, we’ve been given a wonderful mechanism as Christians to work though some of these feelings – the Body of Christ. We have each other to walk through life with us, celebrating the good and bearing with us in the bad.
There have been many expressions of how we “do life” with others over the long history of the Church. The most relevant to me would have to be the class meetings started by John Wesley in the 1700s. These meetings were groups that held each other up. They were there for one another when life was hard, when life was easy, and when people were trying to get rid of sin they just couldn’t break free from. This method of loving discipleship and accountability is what brought such intense revival to the early Methodist movement. It's this same revival I want to see in our church and in Marble Falls.
As part of The Revival Project, we are looking into new ministries we can begin that will help us ignite revival in our community. You’ve already heard a little bit about Seed Studies and Grow Groups. We’re also re-working our Wednesday night ministries and creating some new programming for families. This week’s e-news issue gives some new details about Wednesday Night Church beginning September 3, along with American Heritage Girls and Trail Life USA for boys and regular student and music ministry programming. We also are starting something called Team Family that will begin that next Sunday, September 7. All these and more are meant to be a vibrant and active part of our Revival Project. Hope to have you!
