A Family in Christ

Happy Wednesday friends!
As we approach the summer, I’ve been giving some thought to who we are as a church. Maybe you’ve heard us say this before: “We are family and friends sharing God’s grace, hope, and love with the people of Marble Falls and beyond.” Let’s talk about that “family” part for a minute.
First, “family” does mean the families who come to church with us - both young and old, couples, families with children, empty nesters, and everything in between. But “family” also means the family of believers who have been given the privilege of being united in Christ. John 1:11-13 says it this way: “He came to his own, but his own did not receive him. He gave the right and the power to become children of God to those who received him. He gave this to those who put their trust in his name. These children of God were not born of blood and of flesh and of man’s desires, but they were born of God.”
Church family, we are united as one in the name of Christ Jesus. Because we have believed in his name, we have been given the great privilege of being called children of God - not by our blood, but by the blood of Jesus Christ who became a sacrifice for us in the will of God.
This summer we are gathering every Wednesday night as a church family for “Family Night.” Beginning on May 27th we’ll get together at 5pm for some creative and interactive dinners – things like “International Night” and “Grilled Cheese (on homemade bread!) and Tomato Soup Night” (more on that second one coming soon…). Then we’ll play group games together and have a kid-friendly lesson and prayer time together at about 6pm. As we do all this, we’ll be celebrating our unity in Christ’s name.
So here’s my formal invitation to you: Come enjoy Family Nights on Wednesday nights this summer! We are kicking off NEXT week with a Baked Potato Bar. We will provide the potatoes and all the fixins. You provide your family and an appetite. See you then!
Your brother,
Allen
